Everyone wants to foresee the Mustang’s future, including Ford CEO Jim Farley. He informed The Drive that the next-generation pony car should be worthy of a poster over the summer.
When our own Kyle Cheromcha got down with Farley in Monterey for Car Week, the Blue Oval CEO kept his mouth shut about when the next Mustang would appear. Pull the string, and you’ll discover a few murmurs here and there, as well as some intriguing LinkedIn posts, hinting at what’s to come. However, there are still a lot of speculation about when the next Mustang will appear.
Sean McElroy of Autoline discovered a bit of information from worldwide automotive forecasting data provider AutoForecast and reported it on his news update; he believes Ford expects to introduce a Mustang hybrid in 2025 when the new generation of Mustangs begins.
The S550 Ford Mustang has been on the market since 2015, and muscle car lovers are waiting for an update. ACCORDING TO MCELROY, the S650 will not go into production until March 2023.
Despite knowing where this engineer employed for Ford is essential, the most important takeaway is that it appears like Ford is planning to debut the S650 Ford Mustang in 2023 as a two-hybrid vehicle. One will most likely be the 5.0-liter V-8, while the other will most likely be the EcoBoost 2.3-liter I-4, both of which are used in the non-hybrid form in the S550.
That also indicates a pre-production or prototype version will most likely be released between now & 2022, in time for a 2023 production deployment. Of course, this is to assume there are no supply concerns. I’m sure you’re sick of hearing that explanation.
While Ford has yet to announce that the new Mustang will be hybridized, considering how many automakers are moving, it seems likely. The Mustang’s primary issue is pollution, which is why the V-8 in the S550 Mustang will lose ten horsepower & 10 pound-feet (13.6 Nm) in 2022.
To comply with emissions standards (and reclaim lost power), the Ford Mustang may rely on hybrid aid in the future. The degree of hybridization is also up for question, as it might be a mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or full hybrid, with the latter two sharing parts of Mach E’s drivetrain.
Another insane rumor claims that after the S650 Mustang, Ford would stop producing all internal combustion-engined sports vehicles. Future Mustangs may be a sleeker version of the Mustang Mach E, given that they currently have one.
The Ford Mustang S650 style is not a popular choice in 2023, but it is ideal in our opinion. The Mustang’s core features have been retained, but Ford has added a few unique design aspects. Many people believe it’s a coupe, but the Mustang might be a car. Ford will tell you that it’s a Fastback, which is a homage to the original sloped-roof design.
LED lighting is standard on all versions, both in the rear and front. The standard model comes with 17-inch wheels, whereas the Premium model features 18-inch wheels. If you look at the available options, you’ll notice that you may upgrade to a 20-inch screen.
The new 2023 Ford Mustang S650 is significantly larger than the previous model, which appears to be causing some debate among those who believe the classic car is by far the most desirable. In truth, an upgraded vehicle with suitable crumple zones and luxury features cannot be designed without increasing its size and weight.
The two versions have a combined 3,542 pounds, which isn’t too bad. The overall length is 188.5 inches, but the wheelbase is unusually short at 107.1 inches. The Mustang measures 75.4 inches wide and 54.3 inches tall, excluding the mirrors. As a result, the Mustang is equivalent to the Chevrolet Camaro while being smaller than the Dodge Challenger.
The interior configuration is two-plus-two, which is an excellent way of saying Ford wants to make the front-seat passengers comfier. The back area is restricted, and getting in and out is difficult. We won’t be too upset because the Mustang’s design doesn’t market it as a family vehicle.
The Premium variant comes with power-adjustable bucket seats, which are upgraded from the standard model’s adjustable fabric bucket seats. Seating heating, air conditioning, and the capacity to assist the lumbar region are included in the higher models.
The standard model has six speakers, while the Premium variant has three more. The base model comes with single-zone weather control, but the Premium adds dual-zone climate control.
